The best day of the week

Wednesday is my favorite day of the week.  If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance that you feel the same way.  I love the anticipation of new books on the racks at Laughing Ogre.  I usually roll into the Lansdowne store around 4:00, and 2 minutes later, Angie is handing me a stack of new books.  But the story doesn’t end there.  I usually end up talking with Gary or maybe another customer about something I read the week previous.  Before I know it, 45 minutes have gone by and I’m running late.  Irush out the door, making my long commuteout to the country where I live.  And the next week, I do it all over again.

The great think about visiting your local comic store is the atmosphere.  Well, I suppose that depends on the store.  The great thing about Laughing Ogre is that it is a place where everyone loves comics.  It’s the one place you can go where you can be certain that the guy or gal standing beside you has something in common with you.  You can ask them what they’re reading, and you might go home with a new trade in your stack that you would have never considered otherwise.

Laughing Ogre is more than a store… it’s a community, and that’s what we’re trying to replicate on this website.  In the coming weeks, you’ll begin to see blogs by not just the staff, but by actual customers of all 3 stores.  We’re going to talk about what we like, what we don’t like, the industry and whatever else comes to mind.  And the best part is that you can join the conversation with just a few keystrokes.  If you disagree with my opinion on the New 52, feel free to comment and speak your mind.  This site is for all of us, and your feedback is welcome.

Thanks for reading.

Wednesday is also my favorite day of the week! I just usually show up at Lansdowne around 11am – one of the few advantages of working mostly nights as a restaurant manager. Great post! And so true that you can’t ever make it a quick trip because of good people and great conversation!
